“You’re so weird.” Quite the unique way to show your affection, right?
Boomboxes held over heads, flash mobs to pop questions, or a simple “you’re my world” all convey the same message, I love you. These are all GREAT options, but Shianne quietly saying to Ryan, “you’re so weird” during this session perfectly captured the playful and comfortable love they share.
The sunrise at Swallow Falls this day made for the perfect setting albeit quite the chilly morning. Shianne was tough, in her partially open-back dress and wedges. Ryan stated he was “chilly” while Shianne was “numb.”
Shianne and Ryan had a two-and-a-half-hour drive back home. I imagine they were tired since they’d made the journey before meeting at 6:40, although Ryan did jokingly say Shianne slept the entire way so she “should be well-rested.” All this to say that Ryan and Shianne couldn’t have been more gracious, kind, and downright tough considering the weather and hour of the day. The two high-fived between takes, talked about training in jujitsu together (Ryan admitted Shianne can kick his butt) and took time to tell me how their love story began as a setup by mom. Hello, Nicolas Sparks!
Near the end of the shoot, I was behind Ryan peering in on Shianne. Suddenly, I see Shianne LIGHT UP and heard her whisper through genuine laughter “you’re so weird.” She let me know he was making silly faces at her. Their love was palpable from the time I met them, but in this moment when fatigue and cold could have taken over, they were playful and charming.
Ryan and Shianne, thank you so very much for letting me capture a glimpse into your love story. You all are the sweetest, and watching your love unfold on camera was so special! Congratulations on your engagement and I hope you continue to enjoy each other as much as you did on our cold morning in February!
